छत्तीसगढ़ में वर्ष 2003 में छत्तीसगढ़ में डॉ. रमन सिंह के नेतृत्व में पहली बार भाजपा की सरकार बनी, उस समय सहकारी बैंकों से किसानों को रियायती ब्याज दर पर खेती के लिए कर्ज मिलता था, जिसे धीरे-धीरे घटाकर शून्य प्रतिशत कर दिया गया। किसानों को बिना ब्याज के खेती-किसानी के लिए ऋण देने का काम छत्तीसगढ़ की रमन सरकार के दौर में शुरू हुआ था। आज भी किसानों को शून्य प्रतिशत ब्याज पर खेती के लिए लोन मिल रहा है। फसल बीमा जिसका लाभ पूरे देश के किसानों को सहजता से मिल रहा है। इसका श्रेय भी तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री स्वर्गीय अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी को जाता है। उनके कार्यकाल में ही फसल बीमा योजना का सरलीकरण किया गया।
छत्तीसगढ़ में किसानों को सिंचाई सुविधा उपलब्ध कराने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री सिंचाई योजना लागू की गई है। सौर सुजला योजना के माध्यम से सरकार ने दूरस्थ वनांचल में, जहां बिजली की सुविधा नहीं है, वहां किसानों के खेतों में भी इस योजना के माध्यम से सौर सुजला सिंचाई पंप स्थापित कर सिंचाई की व्यवस्था की गई है। राज्य में सिंचाई रकबे में विस्तार के लिए नवीन सिंचाई योजना के लिए 300 करोड़ रूपए, लघु सिंचाई की चालू परियोजनाओं के लिए 692 करोड़ रूपए, नाबार्ड पोषित सिंचाई परियोजनाओं के लिए 433 करोड़ रूपए एवं एनीकट तथा स्टाप डेम निर्माण के लिए 262 करोड़ रूपए का बजट प्रावधान छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार ने किया है।
छत्तीसगढ़ में किसानों एवं भूमिहीन मजदूरों की स्थिति में सुधार, कृषि एवं सहायक गतिविधियां के लिए समन्वित प्रयास पर राज्य सरकार का फोकस है। कृषि विभाग के बजट में बीते वर्ष की तुलना में वर्ष 2024-25 में 33 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि करते हुए 13 हजार 435 करोड़ रूपए का प्रावधान किया गया है। किसानों को सहकारी एवं ग्रामीण बैंकों से ब्याज मुक्त कृषि ऋण उपलब्ध कराने के लिए 8500 करोड़ रूपए की साख सीमा छत्तीसगढ़़ सरकार ने तय की है।
